Next Is What?

So, its been a while but I am back finally!! I have been occupied with one thing or the other(also I was binge watching the entire Young Justice series, so yeah!!). Nevertheless, I am back and today I wanna talk about something that we are seeing in recent times. The post is accurately named 'Next Is What?', which ironically was the tag line for one of the largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world. Let us take a little trip down the memory lane, when mobile phones came into existence they were here merely to make a our lives easier. But it all changed when the smartphone was introduced to the world namely the iPhone. It was then that a mobile phone became the most important thing in our lives.

Now when the iPhone launched in 2007, every company went into a frenzy to come up with a product that was as good as the iPhone if not better. We started off by having apps on our phone, then companies started to come up with different features to make there product better then there rivals be it a finger print scanner or a bigger higher resolution screen or a dual camera, hell a company called yota phone even made a phone with 2 displays. It was insane but it was also good for customers, we had a lot of options and  lot of new things to try.
But its no longer 2007 and innovation that was one the driving factors for a company to be successful is no longer an important factor. You see we have reached a saturation point in the mobile phone industry, innovation has almost stopped. Even the almighty Apple, once considered the pioneers of innovation are looking for help. We have reached a point where every company has entered the specification war. If one company offers a quadcore processor , the other has to offer an octacore, hell there is a so called decacore processor in works which is the stupidest thing that i have ever heard. I mean sure more cores=more power but you have to understand the fact that it is an overkill, you don't need that kind of power in a phone.
And that's not all then there is RAM, 4GB, 2K displays on a 5 inch phone. I mean if you consider science in 5 inch display a human eye cannot differentiate between a 720p and a 1080p display unless you look closely then why have it on a phone and pass it off as a new feature? Then there is the curved displays, there is absolutely no need for my phone to have a curve unless it can fold which it cannot. See? what is the point of having 4GB of RAM when same performance can be achieved by 2GB. And the sad part of this all is we buy these so called 'Innovations' at an insane price.
The thing is because of this 'Spec War' the basic features are being hampered. For example the biggest issue that we face today is battery life, now because you have an insane display and insanely high clocked processor the battery you are going to get is really crappy. I think it is high time for manufacturers to see that this is actually not working, people have actually start to realize they don't 8 or 10 cores which are going to heat up there phone like crazy and stop this nonsensical battle for who has the largest display(I mean seriously? 6inches on a phone??)or who has the most cores. We need real innovation in some departments like battery life which is a long time coming. Or some logical security features like the ones that have been recently introduced like 'Touch Id'. These features would actually make sense and would actually drive the industry in a new direction.
Also it would love to have phone with like a built in holographic projector, it would be the awesomest thing ever!!
